Srinagar, Dec 11 (KNO): The Kangan Company of the Wussan Battalion conducted an informative lecture on the Agniveer recruitment process on Wednesday at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Kangan. The session was led by Col. Anshul Sharma, Director Recruitment at the Army Recruiting Office, Srinagar, and Maj. Vishal Sagar, Kangan Company Commander, who addressed the queries and concerns of aspiring candidates. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the event witnessed the participation of approximately 170 students from various schools, eager to learn about the recruitment process and opportunities under the Agnipath Scheme. The lecture covered key aspects such as eligibility criteria, physical and educational requirements, and the different roles available, including General Duty, Technical, Tradesmen, and Clerk/Store Keeper positions. Maj. Vishal Sagar highlighted the importance of preparation, saying, “The Agniveer recruitment is a great opportunity for the youth to serve the nation. We are committed to guiding and preparing aspirants for this challenging and rewarding journey.” Earlier this year, the Kangan Company organised training sessions at the Kangan Camp, where 50 local students participated. Of these, four successfully joined the Agniveer programme, inspiring more youth in the region to pursue this path. Aman, a 12th-grade student from Kangan said. “We are inspired by the success of our fellow students who joined the Agniveer programme. This lecture has provided us with clarity about the process and what we need to do to achieve success." The preparations for the 2025 Agniveer recruitment drive are underway, with a focus on attracting young ones aged 17.5 to 21 years who meet the required physical fitness and educational standards. Highlighting the scheme’s benefits, Col. Anshul Sharma said, “The Agnipath scheme is a golden opportunity for youth in the region, and we are confident that more young people from Kangan and nearby areas will step forward to serve their country.”—(KNO)
